I am finally doing this tag after several days of inactivity. in fact, I have a backlog of tags collecting dust in my “inbox”. I am also unloading this one because I seem to be running out of people to tag. by the way, thanks to lex for this tag.
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for about eight months now. I started last march just before my birthday. though I had been reading blogs for years before that, the thought of writing my own blog didn’t enter my mind until early this year. firstly, I didn’t know how to start a blog, where to post a blog, what to write about. plus, being relatively shy and introverted, the idea of publishing my thoughts for the whole world to read wasn’t that appealing to me then.
What inspired you to start a blog and who are your mentors?
there were three blogs that I read regularly that I would say were instrumental in pushing me to start my own. first was “our awesome planet” by anton for his reviews and adventures, and the following he has in the blogosphere. next is “laurganism” for her candid writing style and witty articles. and lastly, “coconuter” for its innocence and candor.
Are you trying to make money online, or just doing it for fun?
the reason why I got into blogging was for myself. I wanted to express my views and sentiments on certain issues, write about my thoughts and gain friends in the process. about a week into blogging, I found out through reading different articles and resources that money can be made through this medium. though it sounds very appealing (anything that involves money will always sound appealing), that is not my primary purpose in venturing into this field. maybe later when I have satisfied the frustrated writer in me. (plastik! he he he.)
Tell me 3 things you LOVE about being online.
first and foremost that I love is the reading part of being online. I have always been a reader since I was in school. though I read a few novels, I don’t have the attention span for such lengthy pieces. plus the fact that I’m an information junkie. that’s why cyberspace is so awesome to me. reading hundreds of posts and articles, snippets here and there fulfills both passions.
writing is the other gratifying part being online. as I said, I was apprehensive about publishing my views and thoughts. but as I went on and kept reading comments from other readers of my posts, I got a sense of accomplishment from this venture that I never knew was possible.
meeting friends online is also one of the best rewards. I couldn’t have imagined I will have friends through blogging, considering the fact that I use a pseudonym and therefore tantamount to being anonymous.
Tell me 3 things you STRUGGLE within the online world.
I’m in a constant bind on what to write. I am always divided between what I want to write and what I perceive people want to read. I often have to remind myself that I went into blogging for myself and not for other people. but I still can’t help but be influenced by ratings and reader preference. it’s an identity crisis, I know. hopefully I can overcome this in due time.
secondly, there are days when my mind is not working. he he. when I couldn’t think of anything to write, or when I have the topic or situation in mind but couldn’t put it into words. I really don’t want to pressure myself to produce an article but sometimes it get to me, specially whenever I see how other bloggers are so prolific. (he he, inggitero!)
thirdly, I want to learn more about programming, formatting, web design etc. as it is, my knowledge is limited, just a little more than zero!
I seem to have run out of contacts to tag since most of you have been tagged by this. I’m tagging the following: em dy, lordmanilastone, ambo, makoy and ding.
